-21.12.2008- Snowstorm
I finally made it back to Patriot Hills. A TwinOtter plane was able to find a weather windo to fly to the pole and I was back at Patriots late afternoon.
At the moment a snowstorm is blocking all flights to and from Patriot Hills and it's expected to last at least two or three days. Tonight however there is a slight chance for clouds to break an the Ilyushin flight to come in but I'm not getting my hopes up too much. So, the waiting continues...

-15.12.2008- The South Pole
After a rough day I arrvived to Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. After all the bad luck, injuries and everything, this is a pleasant ending to the expedition.
Weather was cloudy and windy today. I wandered a bit because of the compass bearing and decided to use the gps without interruption. First part of today's route was about navigating straight for the one end of the antenna near the South Pole. After that I also had to cross the runway of the South Pole airport, where I wasted a kilometer or so but finally made it to The Pole.
After setting up my tent, I got an opportunity to take a sightseen tour at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. The Station was huge and quite
modern. It's constructed for 200 people but there's already overcapacity as there are over 250 persons at the moment.
If the weather allows, tomorrow I might be on my way back to Patriot Hills and further to Punta Arenas in Chile. I do have some doubts about it though as the weather in Patriot Hills is apparently not very good at the moment. I'm trying to get home for Christmas, but that really depends on the flight schedules.
I'm still updating my diary all the way back home and I will try to make a summary of the whole expedition for you to read before Christmas. If you would like to get more information of the expedition or things related to it, please contact me via email.
