EQUIPMENT

The total weight of the equipment will be around 100 kilos of which most will be food and fuel for the stove. Other equipment will total around 40 kilos including tent, sleeping bags, stoves etc.

During the expedition the sledge will lose almost 1000 grammes per day as food and fuel is used. 200 grammes of fuel will be used every day to prepare food and melt snow but the tent is not heated with the stove as the best available down sleeping bag is keeping the motor warm during the cold hours of the Antarctic summer nights.

Some of the equipment coming along have travelled with me on many expeditions and proved themselves as excellent pieces of equipment. There are also a bunch of newer equipment to replace the older ones. Satellite phones, GPS-devices and an Argos transmitter are the basic equipment on South Pole expeditions and their task is to function as a communication channel to media and sponsors as well as a lifeline in case of emergencys.
